BLOG: "ICT as Medium for Advocacy"
During my primary years, I was used on witnessing how the teachers and students sang the National Anthem and District Hymns without the help of music and songs but with only their voices being harmonized together, creating a wonderful rhythm and symphony. As years goes by, I am now hearing a much lively and better harmonization of the teacher and student's voices with the accompaniment of songs and music, singing our National Anthem and Regional Hymns. Witnessing vast enhancement about the way they used to do the singing of such songs now and before, ICT absolutely did a great job on making a big impact for the students and teachers; giving justice on where should 21st century folks should be.
The primary years of mine was only full of loud and gentle voices from teachers telling us to form quickly a straight line and when we already do, the conductor would say the phrase "Ba- Handa, awit" without the accompaniment of musics and songs. I can only hear the unison of our voices singing together and when there were some students who stopped singing midway or weren't singing at the first place were clearly evident because there was no music nor songs to cover up some of the missing voices. However, because of the modern world and technological advancements, I am now experiencing a modernized way of gathering multiple students quickly and easily. The help of music and songs to sing along with us our National Anthem and District Hymns did an absolute contribution for all of us. The harmonization is way more pleasing to the ears and if there are students who stopped midway or weren't singing at all, the songs coming from the speakers are quick to cover up.
I used to waste a lot of paper, effort and time back then just to jot down all the lessons and some notes just to get a copy for all of it. But now, we all have the technological gadgets that we can all use anytime and anywhere whenever we'll jot down our lesson, topic, or concept notes.
Back then, students used manila paper or hard copy materials for their presentation, however, given the privilege of technology we now have is such a delight in our heart. We now use apps or websites like Powerpoint, Microsoft, Canva, etc. for a much better presentation.
Writing class records in a tradional way like buying a class record and manually writing your reports or anything had been always what I saw back then but now people are quickly coping with the changes and have been using their laptops or any gadgets to ease their jobs. Folks are still using the traditional way now but they just add spice or a much easier approach that suits themselves.
Back then, people use books or would actually go to the library to seek answers or information about their assignment or research. They'd dedicate their time and effort searching books, articles, news reports, etc. that has something to do with their projects or school works. But now, every corner, students are just effortlessly using their smartphones or laptops to search up their homework. With just one tap, you have everything you want. That's what the power, technology holds.
Reminiscing the old approaches of learning, teaching, and acquiring information quite felt nostalgic to me as I delve myself of welcoming the new and technological advances and privilege I am now experiencing.
